چکیده
The aim of this study was to identify and compare the plasmid replicons clinical uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) isolates, involving extended spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-positive ESBL-negative, E. ST131 non-ST131 various subclones. Plasmid replicon typing on 24 UPEC isolates carried out using polymerase chain reaction-based typing. A statistical analysis performed assess associations between types ESBL carriage, evaluate link high carriage. Eight replicons, I1α, N2, Iγ, X1, FIIS, K, FIA, FII were detected. most common identified here. ESBL-positive highly associated with FIIS while FIA present only in ESBL-negative group. I1α N2 compared non-ST131. No found carriage number or type ESBLs isolates. diversity observed patterns our indicates that they might be originated from different sources. presence reported previously animal sources suggests a possible transfer antimicrobial resistance human bacterial

Plasmid replicon typing of commensal and pathogenic Escherichia coli isolates.
Despite the critical role of plasmids in horizontal gene transfer, few studies have characterized plasmid relatedness among different bacterial populations. Recently, a multiplex PCR replicon typing protocol was developed for classification of plasmids occurring in members of the Enterobacteriaceae. Here, a simplified version of this replicon typing procedure which requires only three multiplex...
متن کاملAntibiotic-resistant ST38, ST131 and ST405 strains are the leading uropathogenic Escherichia coli clones in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
OBJECTIVES We investigated the molecular epidemiology of uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) from a tertiary care hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, revealing, for the first time, the population structure of UPEC in the region. METHODS A total of 202 UPEC isolates were recovered from hospital and community patients with urinary tract infection in December 2012 and January 2013. Strains were ...

Escherichia coli (E. coli) is a very diverse bacterial species found naturally in the intestinal tract of humans and many other animal species. Even though E. coli is known to be part of the normal gut microbiota, some strains – that are pathogenic – cause a wide variety of different intestinal and extraintestinal diseases (Marrs et al., 2005). Typical extraintestinal infections due to E. coli ...
متن کاملAntibiotic resistance among clinical isolates of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia at a teaching hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
BACKGROUND Stenotrophomonas maltophilia has emerged as a significant pathogen in compromised patients, causing infections which are difficult to treat. This study was carried out to comprehend the recent trend of antimicrobial resistance among clinical isolates of S. maltophilia and suggest management guidance for patients in general and in our region in particular. METHODS A total of 222 cli...
متن کاملUropathogenic Escherichia coli isolates from pregnant women in different countries.
Urinary tract infection (UTI) is common during pregnancy and can be associated with negative outcomes for both the mother and fetus. Increased risk of infection among these patients has been attributed to physiological changes, and less focus has been placed on Escherichia coli, the most frequent causative agent. We investigated the virulence properties of isolates causing UTI in pregnant women...
